LFS uses a semi physical model that in my opinion offers the most realistic drifting physics to date. On top of that, the AC and Rfactor devs/community don't seem that interested in drifting anyways, so its unlikely to get much better. You might more accurately call BeamNG a vehicle simulator, as it aims to do more in certain areas of simulation than games like AC.Īs far as drifting is concerned, all the sims that I've tried that use empirical models (AC, RFactor) are pretty poor for drifting, because accurate information about heavily sliding/spinning tires just doesn't really exist the tire is destroyed too quickly to get good data. BeamNG aims to simulate a wide range of tires doing more than just driving around a smooth track, and so it uses a physical model that can be more versatile, usable for cars, trucks, airplane landing gear, driving on pavement, dirt, mud, and hitting rocks, logs, sidewalk curbs etc. I think it's more appropriate to call them racing simulators than driving simulators. It will probably never be as precise for a specific task like racing a GT3 car around Spa, but when all is said and done it should be immersive and fun for a huge range of driving experience. I would love for you to be going in the Simulator direction and not Arcade like Forza, Grand Turismo. I do understand BeamNg is in alpha stage, but what I really want to know is in what direction you guys are taking this game? Compared to the sims I play It's basically the same as real life. I also recently sold my R33 Skyline which i drifted. Ive been on driving sims like LFS for 5 years, and recently I have been drifting on Rfactor2 and Assetto Corsa. I have read a few posts comparing BeamNG with live for speed, but it is still incomparable.
